CLEVELAND, Ga. (Nov. 20, 2018) – Senior Christian Davis and sophomore Myles Monroe led the Truett McConnell University men's basketball team to an impressive Appalachian Athletic Conference win against Bluefield College on Tuesday night inside the Benjamin F. Brady Arena (84-80).
The Bears improved to 4-2, 2-2 AAC on the year while the Rams dropped to 5-1, 3-1 AAC.

Bluefield earned the first five points of the game but both teams started to get hot behind the arc. TMU drained seven 3-pointers in comparison to Bluefield's six. The Bears shot 48.39% from the field in comparison to Bluefield's 41.94% to ultimately outscore the Rams in the first 20 minutes of play. Monroe made a last second bucket to extend the TMU lead by five points going into the half (38-33).
The Bears went on a dominating 18-0 run to lead by as much as 18 (56-38) featuring four 3-pointers, three from Davis and one from sophomore Xavier Latore. The Rams were to sent to the free throw line and made a couple of 3-pointers themselves to come in from behind. The Bears still led by as many as 10 points with four minutes left but Bluefield continued to stay hot behind the arc to minimize the deficit to two points with 16 seconds to go (82-80).
Nonetheless, TMU's defense was resilient and senior Stephen Stuart made a couple of clutch free throws to officially hand the Rams their first loss of the season (84-80).
LEADERS
Davis led with a season high of 26 points, going 6-for-10 behind the arc. Davis was also credited four assists while Monroe added 21 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals. Monroe has scored double digit figures in all six games of the season. Jacob Booke followed with 14 points, five rebounds and four assists.
