CLEVELAND, Ga. (Oct. 30, 2018) – The Truett McConnell University women's basketball team became the first ever team to compete inside the Benjamin F. Brady Arena on Tuesday night in their season home opener. The Lady Bears rose to the occasion defeating the Toccoa Falls Screaming Eagles by 22 points (55-33).

Despite trailing by two after the first quarter, TMU picked it up in the second quarter holding Toccoa to just 11 points while the Lady Bears put up 20. In fact, freshman Camilla Howell drained a three-pointer with just 14 seconds remaining to further extend the Lady Bears lead going into the half (28-19). Nonetheless, the momentum carried over into the second half for TMU.
The Lady Bears never trailed Toccoa in the final forty minutes of play. TMU went on to outscore the Screaming Eagles again in the third (16-9) and fourth (9-5) quarters. All in all, the Lady Bears did not allow Toccoa one three-pointer. TMU also out-rebounded the Screaming Eagles 53-33 earning 20 offensive rebounds in comparison to their six. The Lady Bears' earned 11 points with second chances in comparison to Toccoa's one.
LEADERS
The Lady Bears were led by sophomore Sierra Kendall with her first double-double of the year, 10 points and 16 rebounds. Senior Sarah Hartshorn followed with nine points, Quan Holton compiled eight while Kinley Mitchell and Natalie Nixon added six apiece off the bench. Nixon went 2-for-3 from the three-point arch.

TMU will host Webber International University on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 2:00 p.m., for another nonconference matchup before Appalachian Athletic Conference play.
