Lady Bears drop AAC match

CLEVELAND, Ga. (Oct. 30, 2018) – The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team was capable of stealing one set from the Milligan College Buffaloes but ultimately fell in an Appalachian Athletic Conference matchup inside the Bear Cave on Tuesday night (17-25, 17-25, 25-22, 17-25).

The Lady Bears dropped to 12-19, 7-10 AAC on the year.

Both teams battled it out all the way to 14 apiece, but Milligan went on a strong 11-0 run to put the game out of reach (22-25). The Buffs carried over the momentum going on a 6-0 run in the early in the third set and rallied with another 5-0 run never allowing TMU to come from behind. Though Olivia Beasley's blocked prevented them from point 25 at 24-16, a kill in the next volley sealed the deal (17-25).

The third set saw the Lady Bears with control. After 9-9, TMU took off winning six points in a row. Another 5-0 run kept TMU out front and it was a Beasley kill that secured their first and only win of the night (25-22). Similar to game one, both teams went head to head (15-14) but the Buffs earned six points straight to push the lead for good (17-25).

The Lady Bears were led by freshman Bethany Ross with 12 kills. Senior Shayla Smith added eight and Beasley added six. Beasley also led with seven blocks. Hannah Lee compiled a total of 21 digs and Jordan Henshaw added 13. Abby Maxwell was credited 28 assists.

Up next, TMU will host Columbia International University for their final regular season game on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 1:00 p.m.
