WALESKA, Ga. (Oct. 20, 2018) – The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team led the top team in the Appalachian Athletic Conference the whole first game but ultimately fell as Reinhardt University won the last three points and went on to win the next two sets to secure their 13th AAC sweep over the Lady Bears on Saturday afternoon (25-27, 16-25, 15-25).
TMU's record fell to 11-16, 6-8 AAC while the Eagles improved to 24-2, 15-0 AAC.
The Lady Bears earned the first six points and went on to lead by as much as seven points (17-10). However, a 4-0 run a couple of 3-0 runs by the Eagles enabled Reinhardt to come in from behind. The Eagles picked up the pace earning 18 kills in comparison to TMU's 10. All the Lady Bears needed was one more points to put away the set (25-24) but Reinhardt was capable of pushing three (25-27).
The second set saw tighter competition at the net. TMU earned eight kills while Reinhardt earned 10. After 7-5 (Reinhardt), the Lady Bears were only capable of coming within three points while the Eagles led by as much as 11 points (16-25 final). It was only up from there as Reinhardt picked up the heat for the third and final game of the night. The Eagles put away the ball 16 times and led TMU by as much as eight points. Reinhardt won the final two points of the night to fasten their AAC sweep on two service aces.
TMU was led by Bethany Ross with 10 kills while Harris Anne Walker added seven and Jordan Henshaw four. Abby Maxwell compiled a total of 17 assists and seven digs while Hannah Lee led with 10 digs.
Up next, the Lady Bears will host Toccoa Falls for a nonconference matchup on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 7:00 p.m., before hosting AAC foe Union College on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 6:30 p.m.
