Volleyball drops first match of weekend

WEST POINT, Ga. (Oct. 19, 2018) – The Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team traveled to Point University on Friday afternoon for their first Appalachian Athletic Conference game of the weekend. The Lady Bears lost in straight sets to the Skyhawks (25-17, 25-12, 25-16).

TMU fell to 11-15, 6-7 AAC on the year while Point improved to 19-10, 12-2 AAC.

SET BY SET

The Lady Bears outshined the Skyhawks at the net compiling a total of 11 kills in comparison to Point's 10 in game one. However, a mid-set 4-0 run gave Point the exact amount of momentum that they needed to take the first set on two kills (25-17). Game two saw three more 4-0 runs by the Skyhawks as Point fed off of their first set win to take the second game of the night earning 13 kills (25-12).

TMU was unable to recover in the third set as the Skyhawks rallied to dominate for the second set straight in the kills category (14-5). A handful of blocks proved to be the difference as Point fastened their sweep over the Lady Bears (25-16).

LEADERS

Bethany Ross led with six kills while Harris Anne Walker and Jordan Henshaw added five apiece. Abby Maxwell was credited 17 assists on the night while Hannah Lee led in the digs category with 13.

UP NEXT

TMU will head to Reinhardt University on Saturday morning for their last AAC matchup of the weekend at 11:00 a.m., before returning to the TMU Bear Cave for a nonconference game against Toccoa Falls.
