CLEVELAND, GA. | The Truett McConnell men's basketball team got out to a hot start, but Reinhardt fought back to claim an 83-75 win over the Bears Thursday evening. TMU is now 12-6 overall and 5-4 in league play.
TMU got jumped out to a 11-0 run to start the game against Reinhardt, but after a quick timeout the eagle soared their way back into the game. Filipe Goncalves knocked down a basket to put the bears up by two with a little over two minutes left in the half, but RU responded with a last chance bucket to go into halftime tied 39-39.
Coming out of the half, the two teams went point-for-point until the eleven minute mark when Reinhardt took an 11-0 run. The bears tried to fight back, but the eagles controlled the momentum the remainder of the game to seal a conference victory, 93-79.
Christian Davis lead the bears offensively for the night with 20 points and 8 steals. Also finishing strong for TMU are David Campbell and Filipe Goncalves with 14 a piece.
The Bears will take a little break before resuming conference play next Wednesday against Milligan College in search for their first win on the new year. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
