CLEVELAND, GA. | The Truett McConnell Bears hosted AAC rival Milligan College Wednesday evening in the Bear Cave in search for their first win of the new year. The bears started strong with hot hands from the 3-point line until the tables turned in the second half with Milligan's David Casady finishing with nine three pointers and Daxton Bostian with six behind the arc. The Bears fell short in the last couple minutes of the game to give Milligan a conference win, 90-83. The TMU men's basketball team are now 12-7 on the season and 5-5 on AAC play.
The Bears started off the game with hot hands behind the arc going on a 22-2 run against the buffaloes. The bears went 52% from the arc leading the buffaloes by 15 going into the half with a buzzer beater basket from
Calvin White.
Going into the second half, tables turned for the bears with Milligan controlling the momentum. With twelve minutes left, the buffaloes broke the double digit lead TMU held the entire game. Milligan went on a 12-0 run to eventually tie the game with big baskets from the three point line. TMU was never able to take back the momentum in order to control the tempo of the game. Milligan finished with a seven point lead finish over the bears to seal another AAC victory.
TMU finished with five players to finish offensively in double digits. Draining four 3-pointers,
Christian Davis lead the bears with 16 points. Also finishing strong offensively was Jacob Brooke (13),
Myles Monroe (12),
Calvin White (12), and
Mario Westbrooks (10).
The TMU bears will be traveling this upcoming weekend to Bluefield. VA. to take on conference foe Bluefield College. Tip off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
