Ariana Sanders hit the game-winning shot with two seconds left on the clock as the Truett McConnell women's basketball team tied the school record for wins in a single season with a 50-48 victory over Bluefield. The Bears are now 14-12 overall and 10-8 in league play.
TMU didn't score more than 13 points in a single quarter, but they held the Rams to just eight in the first. TMU led by just two headed to the final quarter.
Anna Murr put the team on her back in the third quarter, downing 18 points in the contest, all from behind the three-point arc. Sanders finished with 11 points, including the game winning shot.
Janae' Simpson added seven points and 11 boards.
The Bears will hit the road for the next two games as they travel to St. Andrews on Wednesday. Tip time is 5:30 p.m. from Laurinburg, N.C.
