CLEVELAND, GA. | Women's Basketball Seal First Season Win Against Columbia International 59-56
The Truett McConnell women's basketball team notched their first win of the season with a 59-56 win over Columbia International Tuesday night home in the Bear Cave. The Bears are now 1-1 under 1st season head coach
Tiek Fields.
The Lady Bears started the game with a strong lead against the Rams 7-0 lead. TMU led 16-13 after one quarter of play and continued to ride the hot shooting into the second quarter, with a big three by
Madison Curtis to extend the lead right before half 32-28.
TMU continued to hold their lead throughout the 3rd quarter and into the 4th until the Rams fought back to tie the score with five minutes left of the game. Trading points the last couple minutes of the game, the Lady Bears finished strong by sealing their first victory of the season as
Mikayla Miles knocked down two free throws with 4 seconds left in the game.
Three starters from TMU finished in double figures offensively to help seal the first victory.
Anna Murr led the team with 15 points while Bralise Reese and
Sarah Hartshorn both added 10 a piece.
The Lady Bars will stay home in the Bear Cave this upcoming Saturday against Keiser University for Truett's Homecoming game. Tip off is isolated for 2pm EST.
