Anna Murr finished with a game-high 23 points, but the Montreat Cav's got out to a 10 point lead early in the second half and never looked back en route to a 78-71 win over the Truett McConnell women's basketball team Saturday afternoon. The Bears are now 2-4 on the season and 0-3 in AAC play.
The Bears exchanged points early on throughout the beginning of play to finish the first quarter only trailing the cav's by two, 16-18. TMU came out strong in the 2nd quarter with a solid basket by
Sierra Kendall in the paint to cut the lead to one. Montreat retaliated with a three and went on to finish the half up by seven, 30-37.
Montreat went on to lead as much as 10 points in the second half.TMU cut the lead down to 6 with just under 12 seconds to play, but the Cav's knocked down two free throws to seal the victory.
Anna Murr led the Lady Bears offensively with a season high of 23 points for the night.
Madison Curtis,
Kinley Mitchell, and
Sierra Kendall each pitched in 10 points for TMU.
The Lady Bears will resume play at home before entering Thanksgiving Break against conference rival Bryan College. Tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday night.
