BARBOURVILLE, Ky. –
The Truett McConnell University women's soccer team swept Appalachian Conference (AAC) Union College 5-0 on Saturday morning. With the win, the Lady Bears move to 9-6-1 on the year and 7-3-0 in conference play while the Bulldogs drop to 1-14-1 overall, and 1-8-1 in the AAC.
It was Truett McConnell who got on the board early during the eighth minute with a
Jessica Lanier goal. The dangerous Lanier found the ball again at the 14th minute to score the Bears second goal off a
Susanna Peppers assist.
Truett had more to say before the half, as
Megan McCall scores the Bears third goal off a corner kick, making it 3-0 going into the half.
The Bears didn't stay quiet too long in the second half as McCall recorded another goal at the 53rd minute making it 4-0. Lanier scores her third goal earning her first hat trick of the year, and closes the game with a 5-0 win over the Bulldogs.
Head Coach
David McDowell stated, "It was a very good team performance today. In recent games we have been playing well without getting the results, so it was good today to get the win. The girls attitudes and work ethic in practice have been superb so it was nice to have things click today."
The Lady Bears will be back home next Saturday for Senior Day as they face AAC foe St. Andrews University. Game time starts at 12pm with the men's game following afterwards.
