Lady Bears Lose Tough One to Bryan 1-0

Lady Bears Lose Tough One to Bryan 1-0

The Lady Bears took on the Lady Lions of Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee Tuesday afternoon. Statistically speaking, TMU has one of the best defenses in the conference, but the Lady Lions had a good defense of their own along with the highest scoring offense in the AAC through this point in the season.

Similar to previous matches, the Lady Bears had more offensive chances than their opponent. TMU attempted nine shots during the first period with four of the shots on goal. Bryan was limited to only four shots during the period, and only one of them were on goal which was saved by the Lady Bears' GK Ashlyn Walloch. Neither team was able to grab the lead in the first half, leaving the game in a scoreless tie going into halftime.

The Lady Bears still saw their fair share of offensive chances, being able to rifle off just as many shots in the second period as in the previous. Bryan, however, turned up the offensive pressure attempting eleven shots in the second half. In the seventy-second minute, Bryan broke the scoreless tie, and the game would end in the 1-0 score in favor of the Lady Lions.

No doubt this game was a tough loss to take, being TMU's second straight 1-0 loss and third in the past four games. Assistant Coach Meagan Taylor commented about the game saying that it was a tough game, but the girls played great despite the result. Despite the rough stretch of results, the Lady Bears remained determined to pursue excellence and look forward to their next match at Union College on Saturday October 21st at 11am.
