Lady Bears Fall to Columbia 1-0

CLEVELAND, GA. |    Lady Bears Fall to Columbia 1-0

The Lady Bears took on the Koalas from Columbia College Saturday afternoon. Coming into the match, both teams knew the importance a win would be in regard to the conference standings and both were hungry to build on their conference win-streaks.

The Lady Bears had the majority of the chances in the first half. They out-shot the Koalas thirteen to one, took five corner kicks while the Koalas never took any. Neither team was able to break through with a goal of their own and both teams went into halftime looking for ways to break the 0-0 tie.

Though there were not as many chances as the first half, the Lady Bears still had opportunities as the goal but the ball seemingly would just not go in. The Koalas were able to generate more pressure themselves in the second half, generating more chances than what they saw in the first half. The Koalas were make it a 1-0 in the seventy-second minute. The Lady Bears did not give up and continued to look for an equalizer, but unfortunately for TMU that goal would not come giving the Lady Bears their first loss in conference play this season.

"We did everything but score today, and sometimes that happens in soccer," said Coach David McDowell. "I can't fault the girl's work ethic and attitude today… [and] I know we'll bounce back from [the loss]. The girls believe in the program and each other and that's key." The Lady Bears' next match will be at home against Point University, another conference opponent, on Wednesday October 11 at 2pm.
