COLUMBIA, S.C. | The Truett McConnell men's basketball team earned its sixth win in the last eight games with a 75-65 win over Columbia International Monday night. The Bears improve to 11-11 with the win and have finished non-conference play.
The Bears trailed for the first 14 minutes of the game as the Rams got behind the home crowd and jumped out to an early lead. TMU got going late in the half behind its defense and transition game, getting multiple fast-break layups to take a two-point lead to the break.
After halftime, the Bears poured it on, shooting nearly 45 percent from the field and 80 percent from the free throw line.
TMU outscored CIU in the paint, 38-22, behind
Mario Westbrooks' 19 points.
David Campbell Jr., added 16 points, while
Kai Lambert contributed 13 to the cause.
The Bears will get back to action as they jump back into AAC play on Wednesday with a 7:30 p.m. tipoff against Allen in the Bear Cave. The game will serve as part of Coaches vs. Cancer Night, where all proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society and White County Relay for Life.
