CLEVELAND | The Truett McConnell women's basketball team trailed by as many as nine with under nine minutes to play before coming back to defeat Bryan College, 58-48, Saturday afternoon in the Bear Cave. The Bears are now on a three-game winning streak.
TMU trailed for much of the first half, leading at one point during the first 20 minutes of play, 20-19, after an Anna Murr three-pointer.
After falling to a nine-point deficit, the Bears stormed back, scoring 14 of the next 17 points to take a three-point lead. The Lions got it back to a one-point game, but TMU pushed the lead back out and scored the final seven points of the game.
Ariana Sanders led Truett McConnell with a game-high 18 points. Janae' Simpson earned a double-double, putting up 14 points and snatching 10 boards while Hannah Lentz contributed 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field.
The Bears will return to action with three games next week, starting on the road at Columbia International on Monday. Tip time is set for 5:30 p.m.
