WEST POINT, Georgia | The Truett McConnell volleyball team lost a tightly contested AAC match against Point University, 3-0, Tuesday night, on the road. The Bears are now 6-5 and 1-5 in league play.

The Bears took an early 7-4 lead in the first set on a Zykeria Allen kill down the line. The Skyhawks and Bears went back and forth from that point until Point tied the set at 17-17. After trading points, Point scored the final four points of the set to win, 25-22.

Point took early command of the second set behind a 5-0 run to take a 9-6 lead. TMU continued to fight back, fending off two set points to tie the set at 24-24, but the Skyhawks scored the next two points to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Point again took momentum into the third set, jumping out to a 7-2 lead early on. The Bears clawed back into the match, tying the match at 17-17 before taking a 22-19 lead. The Skyhawks would score the final six points, however, to clinch the win.

Hannah Simpson led all players with eight kills on the night. Kendall Hardy had seven and Julianna Spradlin had six.

The Bears will play five of the next seven matches in The Bear Cave in Cleveland starting with hosting a tri-match with Bluefield and Montreat on Saturday as part of the #BearBash on TMU's campus. Matches start at 11 a.m.
