COLUMBIA, S.C. | The Truett McConnell volleyball team split a doubleheader in Columbia, falling to Tennessee Wesleyan before defeating Columbia in 3-1 matches. The Bears are now 10-7 overall and 4-7 in league play.
Tennessee Wesleyan 3, TMU 1
The Bears were slow coming out of the gate, dropping 12 of the first 17 points of the match. After losing the first set, 25-15, the Bears responded with a resounding 25-18 win in set two.
The final two sets were tightly contested with Tennessee Wesleyan winning by scores of 25-22 and 25-23.
TMU 3, Columbia 1
Truett McConnell continued playing well in the second game of the day, jumping on the Koalas, 25-16, in the first set. Columbia went on to win set two, 25-18, but the Bears responded with a 13-9 lead to start the third set.
After the Koalas tied the set up at 13, the Bears were able to pull away for a 25-20 win in the set and then finished the match with a 25-23 win in the fourth set.
The Bears will play St. Andrews this Tuesday as the Bears and Knights compete on Dig Pink Night. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m.
