Jon Yeh is in his 11th season as Head Men's Basketball Coach at Truett McConnell University in 2024-25. Yeh is the men's basketball program's longest-tenured coach and all-time leader in wins during TMU's NAIA era. His teams have the program's top five win-loss records and nearly all of its relevant season and game records. Academically, Yeh's rosters have produced 21 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete Recipients, after the program had none previously. Additionally, team members have earned 54 AAC Academic All-Conference awards during Yeh's tenure.
On the court, Yeh has recruited 11 AAC All-Freshman honorees at TMU. He has also coached 11 AAC 1st or 2nd Team All-Conference selections and five AAC All-Defensive Team players, including AAC Defensive Player of the Year Christian Davis in 2017-18. In 2019, Davis was honored as the AAC Male Champions of Character Award winner.
At least 21 of Yeh's former TMU players or assistant coaches have moved on to coaching or teaching positions, spanning from high school to the NCAA Division I level. He has coached seven players who have played professionally throughout his 30-year career, plus another individual who played eight seasons and was a two-time Super Bowl winner in the National Football League. He has led trips, taught clinics, or coached in seven countries outside the United States. He ushered members of his team and church on five ministry tips to Poland during his time at Truett McConnell.Â
Yeh came to TMU from Grace College in Winona Lake, Ind., where he served as the Associate Head Men's Basketball Coach from 1999-2006 and 2009-2014 under NAIA Hall of Fame Coach Jim Kessler. In his time with the Lancers, Yeh coached and recruited players who led Grace to eight consecutive national tournament appearances, including an NAIA Division II Final Four in 2013 and Elite Eight finishes in 2008 and 2009. Also, during that time, Grace won the program's only Mid-Central College Conference (MCC) tournament championship, shared the MCC regular season title for the first time since 1993, and was ranked as high as No. 4 nationally.
Yeh recruited and coached five players who earned 11 NAIA All-American or Honorable Mention awards. The Lancers' 2002-03 and 2013-2014 units each finished as the runner-up in the National Christian College Athletic Association's (NCCAA) Division I National Tournament.
From 2006-2009, Yeh was the Head Men's Basketball Coach at Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Mass. During the 2009 season, the team achieved its best record and most conference wins in seven seasons. In 2007 and 2009, the team earned The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Sportsmanship Team of the Year Award. Yeh coached two players to TCCC All-Conference and Honorable Mention status as well as recruited players who earned three TCCC Rookie of the Week Honors during his final two seasons.
Yeh began his career as an assistant coach to the boys' basketball team at Heritage High School in Monroeville, Ind., in 1994-95 and 1996-99. He served as the varsity assistant coach for one year, the head freshman coach for one year, and the head junior varsity coach for two years. His overall head coaching record was 37-18 in three seasons. Yeh helped coach a varsity team ranked as high as No. 3 in the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) Class 2A poll in 1998-99, while the 1997-98 squad reached the Class 2A Semi-State round.
It is believed that Yeh is the first-ever Chinese American collegiate head coach in the United States. He graduated from Taylor University in Fort Wayne, Ind., with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations, and received his Master of Arts degree in Physical Education from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind. Actively involved in the local community, Yeh and his family attend Concord Baptists Church in Cleveland, Ga. Yeh is married to Corrinne, and they have four children: Jadon, Mya, Liana, and Caleb.
