John Green starts his second full season at Truett McConnell. Previously, he led AIA Prep Academy (a post-grad team in Xenia, Ohio) to a 24-8 inaugural season in 2022-23.  Prior to being the head coach at AIA Prep Academy, John had a 17-year high school coaching career in North Carolina. John has a wealth of high-level experience and success building programs from non-contenders into conference champions.  He was blessed to coach several All-State, All-Conference, and Conference Player of the Year recipients, as well as numerous players who went on to play collegiately at all levels. John is extremely passionate about mentoring and discipling young people.
 
In addition to John’s responsibilities at Truett McConnell, he also serves as a missionary with Athletes In Action coaching new missionaries as they develop their ministry support team before reporting into the mission field.
 
Born in the mountains of east Tennessee, Coach Green has now been married to his wife Paula for 37 years. They have a son, John IV, who is married to Kayla and a daughter, Anna, who is married to Micah.  One of Coach Green’s favorite Bible verses is “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.”  Proverbs 27:17
