Sophomore Year: Matthew played in 18 games, scored 3 goals and had 6 defensive shutouts.

Freshman Year: Since joining TMC in fall 2012, Matthew has gained vast experience both on and off the field. He has had an insight in to what soccer is like in the U.S and the change in pace of the game, compared with that of Europe. The high tempo game and slight change in rules with the count down clock system leads to thrilling and exciting matches. He has achieved a life long ambition of playing competitive soccer overseas. During the 2012 season, he completed his personal goals of breaking in to the starting team and scoring twice for TMC. His goal for this season is to progress further and help the bears excel in the post-season.
 
High School: Matthew attended York College in England for two years prior to arriving at TMC. He played under Gordon Staniforth, a former professional soccer player in England who played for Hull City and York City and is now currently of high prestige in the English Football Associations. Mike Morton was his second coach who coaches and develops players both at Manchester City and his UST Academy in Canada. In his first year at York college his team finished runners up in the Northern College League and made the semi-finals of the English Colleges Cup. In his second year at York, once again his team finished as Runners up in the Northern College League but only made the quarterfinals of the English Colleges Cup before being knocked out. Also, Matthew was selected to represent his county, West Riding, where he travelled all over England playing against the best players from each area of the country.
 
Personal: Matthew Robertshaw was born in October, 1993 in Leeds, England. He is the son of David and Liz Robertshaw, and also brother to Emily. Matthew is majoring in Sports Management at TMC.
