Biography
Freshman Year: Played in all 36 matches…Long finished 2nd on the team in both kills (271) and kills per set (2.2)…She finished 11th in the AAC in number of kills. She tied to lead the team in aces with 31 on the season…Long set the school record for number of kills in a match with 17 against Loyola University...She also finished with 47 blocks and 93 digs…Long was named 2014 Newcomer of the Year.
High School: Long was a 4-year varsity starter for East Hall High School and was named team captain her senior year. She led her team in kills all four years. She holds the school record for number of kills in a season (526), career kills (1,366), and blocks in a season (68). She was 4th in the state for kills her senior year. Her other career stats include 285 Aces, 79 Assists, and 868 Digs. Long was named MVP her Senior year and Offensive Player of the year her Freshman, Sophomore, and Senior year. She was also chosen for the 1st Team All-Area 3 years in a row. She also excelled in the classroom, winning the Academic Award three years in a row. Tarryn was WDUN’s first Player of the Week winner. In her junior year, Long helped East Hall to their very first appearance in the state playoffs, as well as the program’s first winning season. Long was the first volleyball player to receive a college scholarship in program history.
Personal: Tarryn Long was born in Gainesville, Ga. She is the daughter of Don and Shawn Long and has one brother, Brooks. She majors in Early Childhood Education. She attends Oak Grove Baptist Church.
