DAYTON, Tenn. – A 40-shot performance by No. 6 Truett McConnell women's soccer (7-1-1, 5-0-0 AAC) paved way to a 3-0 shutout win over Bryan (0-8-1, 0-5-0 AAC) Wednesday evening.
The 40 shots are the most by a Lady Bear team since the 2025 match vs. Bryan on Sept. 24, where they had 42. Of the 40 shots on Wednesday, 20 were on target which forced Bryan keeper Emory Andrews to make 17 saves. Defensively, TMU limited the Lions to just two total shots with one shot on goal.
Isabella Hodson added two more goals to her impressive 2026 season, bringing her total to eight on the year.
Anabella Moron also chimed in on the scoring, netting her second season goal in the 71
st minute. Assists were provided by
Salome Deneubourg and
Grace Montgomery, their third and first of 2026.
Truett forced three shots within the first ten minutes, two of which were saved by the keeper. Along with two corner kicks, another four shots were put forward as none resulted in a goal. In the 19
th minute, Hodson took the feed from Montgomery and put the ball in the net, giving Truett a 1-0 lead.
Bryan calmed the storm, holding the visiting squad to just one shot in the next ten minutes. The Lions produced their only shot on goal in the match which was saved by keeper
Leire Rodriguez Najera.
Starting from the 34
th minute, the Lady Bears put the pressure on, shooting three times with each shot being saved. They powered four more shots in the half, three sailing off target while the fourth was stopped, resulting in a one-goal margin at the break.
In the 52
nd minute, a foul on TMU resulted in a yellow card on Deneubourg.
Joanna Funes had a chance to extend the lead at 58:24, but the ball hit the crossbar and was kept out. In the 69
th, a foul on Bryan set up a penalty kick for Hodson. The senior knocked it through and put the Lady Bears up 2-0. It was her second PK make of the season, her first being in a 1-1 draw vs. No. 17 Southeastern.
Around two minutes later, Deneubourg passed to Moron who made her shot count, scoring the third goal of the match for TMU. The defense for the away team held the Lions to just a single shot the rest of the way.
Truett is back on the field this weekend with a home match against Milligan on Saturday, Oct. 3 at 1 p.m.
