CLEVELAND, Ga. – All 20 NAIA sponsored sports for Truett McConnell athletics have been named to the 2026 NAIA Scholar Team list, the organization announced this week.
 
To receive the honor, teams must compile a total GPA of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

"We are so proud of our student athletes and the work they are doing in the classroom," Vice President of Athletics Jenni Shepard said. "To have every single NAIA sponsored sport qualify (20) for this award shows our commitment to academics at Truett McConnell University. Not only did we qualify for this prestigious award, but our student-athletes exceedingly surpassed the minimum requirement for this recognition."
 
The women's cross country team reached the highest GPA of any sport with a mark of 3.72. Right behind them is the women's tennis team (3.67) and women's soccer team (3.66).
 
For the men, the soccer team claimed the highest GPA with a 3.59 while the tennis and baseball teams came in second and third with GPAs of 3.53 and 3.51, respectively.

"We are encouraged in Colossians 3:23-24 to 'Whatever you do work heartedly, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord, you will receive the inheritance as your reward.'," Shepard said. "I am proud of our student athletes for honoring Christ through their work in the classroom, and I'm excited to see how they will continue to honor him through their daily lives and athletic performances this year."
