Men’s Soccer Preview: Reinhardt

Truett McConnell prepares to defend its nine-game win streak at home.

CLEVELAND, Ga. – The Truett McConnell University Bears (9-1-2 overall, 8-0-0 AAC) hope to reach a 10-game win streak for the first time in program history as they host the Reinhardt University Eagles (5-4-2 overall, 3-3-2 AAC) at the TMU Soccer Complex on Wednesday.

Tomorrow's fixture serves as the Bears' first home match in 18 days after recording road wins against the University of Pikeville (2-1) and Columbia International University (2-1). It will be a historic 17th meeting between the Bears and Eagles, marking the most games the Bears have played against any single opponent in the program's NAIA era. Truett McConnell has recorded just two victories against Reinhardt historically, with their most recent win occurring in 2024. Both wins were claimed on the road. The goal differential between the two programs in their past five matchups sits at exactly zero (9-9).

Reinhardt features a balanced offensive threat with Chandler Ramalaine and Cristian Gonzalez, as they lead their squad with five goals and two assists each. Ramalaine supplies an extra element of accuracy to the Eagles' attack, as 14 of his 17 shot attempts this season have landed on goal. Freshman keeper Josh Wilson has started every contest for Reinhardt this year, providing 39 saves and a .672 save percentage.

Truett McConnell is fresh off of a full week's rest after an 86th minute game-winning goal against Columbia International last Wednesday. After breaking the TMU single-season record for assists (11) in just nine games, senior Pablo Farrona has contributed the game-winning goal for the Bears in each of his last three appearances. The Bears' defense has also been remarkably strong as of late, conceding just two goals in their last four matches, both by way of penalty kick. Truett McConnell's back line has also aided the team towards a goal differential of +31 on the season.

First whistle is set for 7:00 p.m. under the lights in Cleveland, Ga.
