CLEVELAND, Ga. (April 2, 2025) - On Wednesday, the Truett McConnell University softball team hosted Tennessee Wesleyan University for an Appalachian Athletic Conference doubleheader match-up, where the Lady Bears split with the Bulldogs 9-6 and 1-4. TMU rises to an overall record of 23-11, 14-6 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
GAME ONE
TMU 9 - TWU 6
The first run of game one was scored in the first inning by the visiting team. In the second, TMU tied up the game with a sacrifice fly by Rachel Morgan. A homerun by Grace Folds over left center ultimately gave the Lady Bears the lead, 2-1. Both teams battled back and forth on the board until the fourth inning when the Bulldogs recorded a three RBI homerun, taking the lead. TMU did not give up hope as a single by Mackenzie Heim gave the Lady Bears a chance at a comeback. A go-ahead triple by Ashley Fitts, a hit by Emme Souter and a double by Kyndall Gipson, added five runs to the scoreboard, securing the win in game one, 9-6.
LEADERS
Fitts led the way with the RBIs. Folds followed going 2-3 at the plate with one RBI and two runs. Gipson, Heim, Souter and Morgan all recorded one RBI a piece.
GAME TWO
TMU 1 - TWU 4
In game two, the Bulldogs fought back with vengeance, eager to take split the series. In the seventh, a Cassie Boatright double placed TMU un perfect position to record a run. A single by Cronic ultimately pushed Boatright over home plate (4-1). A final effort by TMU attempted to bridge the gap but was ultimately unsuccessful, falling to a final score 4-1.

TMU will host Johnson University for an AAC doubleheader match-up on Friday, April 4 inside the TMU Softball Complex. Game one set for 2:00 p.m.
