KINGSPORT, Tenn. (April 28, 2025) - On Monday, the Truett McConnell University Softball team traveled to compete in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament, where the No. 3 seeded Lady Bears fell to the No. 6 seed Tennessee Wesleyan University in the opening round, 7-6.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
TWU took the lead early in the first scoring a single run. The Lady Bears responded in the third inning with three runs, featuring an RBI sacrifice bunt by Rebecca Graham, RBI single by Isabelle Sullivan, and a RBI double by Cassie Boatright (3-1). Four runs by TWU in the fourth, gave the Bulldogs the advantage once again as the Lady Bears were forced to match the action (5-3). A two RBI single by Jenna O'Brien gave TMU a chance, tying up the game, 5-5. A run in the fifth by TWU pushed the Bulldogs ahead once again forcing a response from the Lady Bears. A double to right field by Emme Souter kept the game alive as TMU once again evened the score (6-6). TWU scored the final run in the seventh, besting the Lady Bears in a hard-fought match-up, 7-6.Â
LEADERS
Boatright led the way going 2-4 at the plate with one run and one RBI. O'Brien followed with two RBIs, while Souter, Sullivan and Graham tallied one RBI a piece.Â
