Lady Bears sweep Buffs on the road

MILLIGAN, Tenn. (March 18, 2025)- On Tuesday, the Truett McConnell University softball team traveled to face Milligan University in an Appalachian Athletic Conference double header match-up where the Lady Bears secured shut out wins in both games 3-0 and 6-0 raising their record to 18-8, 9-3 AAC.  

PLAY-BY-PLAY
GAME ONE 
WIN 3-0 
Game one started off slow for both teams with nothing in the first. Mackenzie Heim singled in the second advancing Grace Folds, but both were left on base. It wasn't until the seventh when Cassie Boatright doubled to left center field bringing in Emme Souter and Rebecca Graham for the first runs of the game. Hailey Cronic also reached first by an error and allowed Boatright to score. The Lady Bears were able to shut out MU and leave them scoreless in game one, 3-0.

LEADERS
Folds led the way in game one going 2-2, drawing one walk. Graham was featured going 2-3 with one run, while Boatright tallied two RBIs.

GAME TWO 
WIN 6-0
Game two started off slow as well, with four scoreless innings. In the fifth, Emme Souter singled bringing home Graham to add the first run to the board. With Souter on base, an RBI single by Boatright scored the second run of the game. Ashley Fitts singled to center field allowing Georgia Patton to score. TMU capped off the final inning with three more runs featuring singles by Cronic and Rachel Morgan. Cronic scored the final run for the Lady Bears off a wild pitch, concluding the series sweep with a score of 6-0. 

LEADERS 
Souter led the way at the plate going 3-4 with one run and one RBI. Boatright followed going 2-4 with one run and one RBI, while Morgan and Fitts tallied one RBI apiece. 

UP NEXT 
The Lady Bears will travel to Bluefield University on Saturday, March 22 to compete in an AAC double header match-up. Game one set for 1:00 p.m.
