WALESKA, Ga. (February 19, 2025) - On Wednesday, the Truett McConnell University women's basketball team traveled to compete in an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up against Reinhardt University where the Lady Bears fell by slim margins, 78-66. TMU falls to an overall record of 12-15, 9-12 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first quarter, the Eagles were first on the board forcing a quick response from the Lady Bears with a good three-pointer by Alissa Winters. Both teams battled, eager to retain the lead as a three-pointer by Madison Aguilera kept TMU in range. A late run by RU, saw the Eagles create a 10 point gap on the board forcing TMU to work from behind. Two final layups by Alexis Brewster and Mahalah Stewart, closed the gap to six as the quarter ended. In the second quarter, RU continued to increase their score on the board eager to put the game away early. The Lady Bears were not shaken as layups by Kayleigh Kelley and Destinee Lovejoy added to TMU's score. A final good jump shot paired with a made free throw by Brewster ultimately put the first half to rest with a score of 42-27.
The third quarter saw a the Lady Bears work hard defensively, holding the Eagles to 16 points and matching with 16 of their own. Layups by Ava Queen and Brewster continued to prove the Lady Bears as tough competitors as TMU continued to aim for a chance at the win (58-43). In the fourth quarter the Lady Bears went to work offensively as good three pointers by Kelley and Aguilera, paired with good jump shots by Brewster gave TMU hope at recovering a win. Final good free throws by Lovejoy and Brewster attempted to close the gap but ultimately could change the outcome of the game. Final score 78-66.
LEADERS
Brewster led the way for TMU with 21 points, while going 9-9 at the free throw line. Kelley followed with 12 points, while Aguilera had eight points and six assists. Lovejoy was featured recording eight rebounds on the evening.

The Lady Bears will be back in action on the road on Saturday, February 22, as TMU travels to face Tennessee Wesleyan University in the Lady Bears final regular season game of the 2024-25 season. Tip-off set for 2:00 p.m.
