CLEVELAND, Ga. (November 1, 2025) — On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University men's basketball team hosted Toccoa Falls College, where the Bears posted a commanding season opening performance with a 91–67 victory over the Screaming Eagles. TMU opens the season with an overall record of 1–0.

TMU opened the first half with strong defensive pressure, forcing early turnovers and converting them into transition points. Three-pointers from Mason Smith and Emanuel Befekadu built early momentum, while Calvin Carter dominated the paint with offensive rebounds and put-backs. Midway through the half, Omari Joseph powered through for a bucket, extending TMU's lead to double digits. The Bears continued to roll offensively, closing the half on a 7–0 run to take a 51–32 advantage.
In the second half, the Bears maintained control with quick ball movement and second-chance scoring opportunities. Isaac Brito-Vasquez ignited the offense with a fast-break finish, followed by a dunk from Shawn Walker to energize the crowd. TFC responded with a short run, but TMU's balanced attack and defensive rebounding quickly shut down the momentum. Late-game baskets from Befekadu and Walker sealed the dominant 91–67 win for the Bears.

Mason Smith led the Bears with 12 points, while Emanuel Befekadu also added 12 points, connecting on four three-pointers. Calvin Carter II contributed 11 points and grabbed 6 offensive rebounds.
