Bears battle to scoreless draw against Johnson

CLEVELAND, Ga. (October 22, 2025) – On Wednesday, the Truett McConnell University men's soccer team traveled to face Johnson University for an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up, where the Bears record a 0–0 draw. TMU improves to 9-4-2 overall record, 7-2-2 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
The first half opened with goalkeeper Euan Brindley making early saves to deny JUs pressure. TMU's first major chance came in the 18th minute when Jovica Lazarevic fired a shot on goal, forcing a save by the Royals keeper. TMU maintained possession through the game, with solid performances from Josep Moral and Nick Jeising, but physical play resulted in a pair of yellow cards for the Bears late in the first period holding the score to 0-0 at the half.

In the second half, TMU came out aggressive. Nico Rudolph fired a shot high just after the restart, testing the Royal's defense. Later in the half, Lazarevic and Carlos Ruiz each delivered corner kicks that kept JU on guard as TMU pressed for a go-ahead goal. Despite several attempts on both sides, neither team could break through resulting in a hard-fought draw, 0-0.

LEADERS
Lazarevic led the way with two shots on goal, while Rudolph, Ruiz, and Aspinall recorded one shot a piece. Brindley was featured recording four saves on the evening to preserve his eighth clean sheet of the season.
