CLEVELAND, Ga. (January 2, 2025) - On Thursday, the Truett McConnell University men's basketball team hosted Point University for a non-conference match-up where the Bears took care of business after recording a huge win, 93-84.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
First half play began with the Skyhawks first on the board, quickly taking an early lead. TMU fought back recording good layups by Myles McCrary and EJ Smith, paired with a three-pointer by Raul Arias-Ortega. Both teams battled for the top spot as made jump shots by McCrary and Jadon Yeh propelled TMU forward. A final layup by Yeh in the first half, kept the game close as the Bears entered the half trailing by five, 41-46. In the second half, TMU gave it everything they had taking every opportunity to get to the basket. Three-pointers by Yeh and Arias-Ortega, followed by three made free throws by Smith ultimately changed the tide of the game as TMU pushed ahead. A final three-pointer by Arias Ortega ultimately sealed the deal on a home team win, 93-84.
LEADERS
McCrary led the way recording a double-double, featuring 22 points and six rebounds. Arias-Ortega followed with 19 points, going 4-5 in free throws, while Yeh recorded 14 points and Smith had 13 points.
