CLEVELAND, Ga. (January 15, 2025)- On Wednesday, the Truett McConnell University women's basketball team hosted St. Andrews University for an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up where the Lady Bears fell to a tough loss, 55-53. TMU falls to a record of 8-8, 5-5 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Lady Bears started the first quarter behind as TMU fought to gain the lead. TMU ended the first quarter down by four despite shots by Carsyn Ward and Brinkley Kate Reed successfully finding the basket (10-14). A layup by Reed, paired with a made three pointer from Alexis Brewster late in the second quarter brought the deficit back down to one point as the Lady Bears ended the first half trailing by one, 28-27.

Both teams battled in the third quarter giving it their all on both sides of the baskets. Two good three-pointers by Kelley tied the game 37-37, as the Lady Bears gained hope at holding out for the win (43-47). The Lady Bears fought hard to take the lead, giving it all they had till the very end of regulation, but ultimately fell short. Final score, 55-53. 

LEADERS
Alexis Brewster led the way with 17 points and eight rebounds. Kelley followed with 15 points, while Reed tallied 10 points and Destinee Lovejoy recorded nine rebounds.

The TMU Lady Bears will travel to Johnson University on January 18, 2025 for an AAC matchup. Tip-off set for 2:00 p.m.
