KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (April 5, 2024) - On Friday, the Truett McConnell University softball team traveled to face Johnson University, where the Appalachian Athletic Conference opponents went face to face with the Lady Bears falling to final scores of 3-2 and 5-3. 

GAME ONE | 2-3

The Royals made their mark in the first inning with two runs, but the Lady Bears responded in the top of the third with a RBI by Kyndall Gipson that scored Rebecca Graham (1-2). Johnson struck again in the bottom of the inning with a single run, while a single run homer by Cassie Boatright saw TMU out of tricks as they fell to a final score of 2-3. 

LEADERS

Boatright led the way going 1 for 3 at the plate with one RBI and one run, followed by Gipson who had a single RBI and Graham who had a single run. 

GAME TWO | 3-5

Boatright shined in the top of the first with her second homerun of the day, scoring two runs and putting the Lady Bears on top. It didn't take long for the Royals to respond as they rallied together five runs of their own. A final gain in momentum from the Lady Bears in the top of the seventh saw Hailey Cronic double to right center, scoring Graham to make the final score 3-5. 

LEADERS

Graham had a great performance at the plate after going 3 for 3 with two runs and one walk. Boatright was seen going 2 for 3 with one walk, one run and two RBIs, while Cronic went 2 for 4 with one RBI.

The Lady Bears compete in their final games of the weekend at Bryan College on Saturday, April 6, with game times set for 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
