TMU flies past Screaming Eagles in mid-week battle

CLEVELAND, Ga. (April 17, 2024) - The Truett McConnell University baseball team hosted Toccoa Fallas College in a non-conference match-up on Wednesday, where the Bears brought the heat as they beat the Screaming Eagles with a final score of 17-7.

PLAY-BY-PLAY

TFC wasted no time as they scored the first run of the game right at the start, but the Bears proved a worthy opponent as they talked four runs of their own, sparked by a Jordan Kenty triple to deep center field to score pinch runner Jacob Karvelas. Caleb Williams immediately followed the action with an RBI double to right field, while Tanner Griffith hit an RBI single and Mikal Mascarello hit an RBI double to make the score 4-1. The second inning ultimately put the game out of reach as Caleb Ramsey hit a two run home run, Caleb Gentry doubled to score two runs, Mascarello doubled to score one run, and the Bears walked in the final run of the inning. Toccoa was capable of added to their side of the scoreboard in the third, fourth and sixth inning, but with the mercy rule win on the line in the bottom of the sixth, Jacob Karvelas hit a three run bomb over the left field fence to secure the win in seven innings Inca with a score of 17-7.

LEADERS

Jordan Kenty led the way going 3 for 4 at the plate with two RBIs, two runs and one walk. Griffith went 2 for 2 at the plate with three runs, three RBIs and two walks, while Ethan Roberts went 2 for 2 and Williams went 2 for 3.
