CLEVELAND, Ga. (April 10, 2024) – The Truett McConnell University hosted Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent St. Andrews University on Wednesday, where the Lady Bears took down the Knights in style with a double shutout with scores of 8-0 and 6-0.
GAME ONE | 6 Innings
The first inning saw
Hailey Cronic get the ball rolling with a RBI double to score
Jenna O'Brien, followed by an O'Brien triple to score
Rebecca Graham and a Cronic sacrifice fly to score O'Brien (3-0).
Isabelle Sullivan put the ball in play to score
Emme Souter in the fourth, while a
Kyndall Gipson RBI single scored one run and a Rachel Morgna RBI single and Chronic misplayed ball scored the final runs of the game for the Lady Bears.
LEADERS
O'Brien went 2 for 4 at the plate with two runs and one RBI, while Sullivan went 2 for 3 with one run and one RBI.
Cassie Boatright went 2 for 3 with one run, followed by Cronic who went 1 for 3 with four RBIs. Pitcher
Kyleigh Sanders had a great performance on the mound, earning the shutout win and recording 12 strikeouts on the day.
GAME TWO | 6-0 Win
The Lady Bears were first to hit the board in game two with smart base running by Graham who scored in the bottom of the third, followed by Gipson sacrifice fly to score O'Brien (2-0). O'Brein stayed hot in the bottom of the fourth with a RBI double, while Cronic scored Sullivan with a sacrifice fly and. O'Brien could not be stopped in the bottom of the sixth as she recorded her second triple of the day, with the game closed out with a final run from a Cronic RBI single to make the score 6-0.
LEADERS
Graham had a day at the plate in game two going 3 for 3 with three runs and two RBIs. Boatright went 2 for 3 with one walk, followed by Cronic who went 1 for 2 with two RBIs and one walk. Pitcher Gipson earned the shutout win after pitching six complete innings and recording eight strikeouts on the day.
