COLUMBIA, S.C. (April 9, 2024) – On Tuesday, the Truett McConnell University men's volleyball team traveled to compete in a non-conference match-up against Benedict College, where the Bears forced the match into five sets, ultimately falling to a final score of 3-2 (22-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-23, 13-15). TMU falls to an overall record of 6-18, 0-12 AAC, while BC rises to a record of 2-14.

In the first set, the Tigers were first on the board, forcing a quick response from the Bears. TMU continued to work from behind, with kills by
Caleb Bosveld proving capable of closing the gap. Both teams went back and forth, eager to come out on top, when a final five point rally by the opposing team ultimately gave BC set one, 25-22. The second set saw both teams evenly matched. Kills by Bosveld and Bosman kept the Bears in range as TMU fought to take the lead. A final six point rally by the Bears, featuring kills by
Stephen Dixon and Bosveld, ultimately proved TMU capable of securing set two, 25-23.

The third set once again saw both teams evenly matched allowing the Bears to ultimately gain the lead with back-to-back kills by Bosman and Bosveld. TMU continued to remain ahead of the Tigers, eager to obtain the set win, when a last chance five-point rally by BC ultimately pulled set three away from TMU, 25-23. In the third set, TMU was once again first to pull ahead with kills by Bosman and a service ace by Dixon. Eager to push the match-up into a fifth set, TMU worked together ultimately proving capable of recording the win, 25-23.

In the final set, the Bears gave it their all as both teams went back and forth. Kills by Bosveld,
Adam Shuman and Bosman continued to give TMU a fighting chance, when two final kills by the opposing team ultimately stole set five, falling to a final set score of 15-13.

LEADERS
Bosveld led the way with 24 kills, two service aces and 15 digs. Bosman followed closely behind with 20 kills and a solo block.
Wensky Saintilmond was featured recording 48 assists and 13 digs on the evening.
