CLEVELAND, Ga. (March 24, 2023) – On Sunday, the Truett McConnell University women's lacrosse team hosted Warren Wilson College for a non-conference match-up where the Lady Bears proved victorious, taking down the Owls with a final score of 12-9. TMU rises to an overall record of 2-7, while WWC falls to a record of 2-5.

In the first quarter, the Owls scored the first goal forcing a quick response by TMU with a unassisted goal by
Marlo McBrayer. WWC continued to attack, finding the back of the net once more, when two more goals, one apiece by
Kaitlyn Morgenroth and
Shelby Nail, put the Lady Bears up, 3-2. The second quarter saw the Owls add three goals to the board once again taking the lead, but TMU was not shaken as goals by
Katie Smith and Nail held the match even entering the half.Â

The third quarter saw both teams once again remain even as they battled for the lead. Two more goals by Smith and Nail kept the Lady Bears in the game as both teams entered the final quarter tied, 7-7. In the fourth quarter, the Lady Bears worked together on both sides of the field, holding the Owls to two goals, and scoring four consecutive goals of their own, with one a piece by Morgenroth, McBrayer, Smith and Nail (11-9). TMU scored their final goal of the evening in the last two minutes of regulation as a shot by Smith once again found its way into the net, resulting in a final score of 12-9.

LEADERS
Nail led the way with four goals, taking 11 shots, with five on goal. Smith followed with four goals and one assist, with four shots, all on goal. McBrayer was featured contributing two goals and one assist, taking eight shots, five on goal, with 11 ground balls. Morgenroth was seen contributing two goals, with four shots, all on goal, while
Maddie Donnelly had two assists. Goalie
Sally Marcum was featured recording five saves on the evening.
