BABSON PARK, Fla. (February 9, 2024) – On Thursday, the Truett McConnell University men's volleyball team traveled to compete in an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up against Webber International University, where the Bears suffered a tough loss to the Warriors, 3-0 (11-25, 12-25, 18-25). TMU falls to an overall record of 2-5, 0-1 AAC, while Webber rises to a record of, 1-0, 1-0 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first set, WIU was first on the board with a three-point rally. An error on the Warriors followed by kills by
Caleb Bosveld,
Wensky Saintilmond and
Alex Bosman finally put the Bears on the board. Eager to increase their early lead WIU put three more points over the Bears, but TMU was not shaken as a three-point rally, featuring a solo block by Bosveld followed by a kill by
Troy McAlister, kept TMU in range. A final six-point rally by the Warriors ultimately left the Bears behind as WIU took set one, 11-25. The second set saw the Bears first to score with a kill by McAlister and a block assist by Bosveld and
Stephen Dixon. The Warriors went on to score 12 consecutive points as TMU worked to regain their speed as a block by
Adam Shuman disrupted WIU's rally. A kill by
Nathan Hill gave the Bears hope but was ultimately not enough to take the set, falling in set two, 12-25.
The third set saw the Bears once again first up on the board with an error on the opposing team. Both teams battled back and forth for the lead when a three-point rally by the Warriors put the Bears behind by five points. Back-to-back kills by Bosveld and Dixon, gave TMU hope at securing the set, but was ultimately unsuccessful as back-to-back errors on the Bears, gave WIU a win in set three, 18-25, falling to a final match score, 3-0.

LEADERSÂ
Bosveld led the way with five kills, while Dixon, McAlister and Saintilmond tallied two kills apiece. Bosman was featured recording two services aces, while Shuman had one service ace and one solo block.
