MONTREAT, N.C. (February 24, 2024) - On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University men's basketball team concluded regular season play, where they fell to Appalachian Athletic Conference opponent Montreat College with a final score of 94-79. TMU is sitting at an overall record of 11-17, 9-15 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
The first half saw Montreat secure the lead at the start, but two free throws from
KJ Riley evened the play and stole the lead with a score of 10-9. The Cavaliers responded with points of their own, forcing the lead to be undecided as both teams proved evenly matched. In the eighth minute, TMU pulled ahead after a three-pointer by
Cainan Wright and a dunk from Riley (22-18). Montreat once again responded, stealing the lead with a score of 30-41 at the half. Jason Yeh sparked the second half for the Bears with two good free throws, while a Yeh jump shot and
Cory Seitz layup kept the visiting team in the game. A final layup effort by
Eli Underwood and two free throws from Yeh proved not enough as the Bears fell to a score of 79-94.
LEADERS
Yeh led the way for the Bears with 17 points and went 7-8 at the free throw line. Seitz recorded 12 points, followed by
EJ Smith who had 10 points, Riley who had nine points and
Cainan Wright who had eight points.

The Bears travel to Kingsport, Tenn. to compete in the AAC Tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 28, where TMU is set to face the No.7 seed Reinhardt University at 12:45 p.m.
