Lady Bears fall short against Reinhardt

CLEVELAND, Ga. (December 4, 2024) - On Wednesday, the Truett McConnell University women's basketball team hosted Reinhardt University for an Appalachian Athletic Conference match-up, where the Lady Bears fell to a loss 61-51. TMU falls to an overall record of 4-5, 3-2 AAC.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
TMU began first quarter regulation with a good three-pointer by Ava Queen. Kayleigh Kelley and Alexis Brewster followed the action with back-to-back layups, followed by a good free throw by Brewster (10-6). In the second quarter, RU fought back tying up the score. Three-pointers by both teams kept it anyone's game worked to retain the lead once more. A final layup by Mahalah Stewart, created a small gap on the scoreboard for TMU as the Lady Bears entered the half leading 23-21. 

The third quarter saw a shift in momentum for the visiting team as the Eagles took the lead. Layups by Destinee Lovejoy, Alissa Winters and Aguilera, kept TMU focused as they trailed by four entering the fourth quarter. In the final quarter the Eagles attacked hard on offense, creating a 13 point lead. Three-pointers by Winters and Aguilera, followed by a good jump shot by Aguilera, gave TMU hope at over turning the game, but ultimately fell short lived as the Lady Bears fell in a tough loss, 61-51.

LEADERS
Brewster led the way with 10 points, five assists and two blocks. Lovejoy followed with nine points, while Winters and Aguilera recorded seven points each. Kelley had six points and six rebounds.

UP NEXT
TMU will travel to Pikeville, Ky. on Saturday, December 7, to face the University of Pikeville in an AAC match-up. Tip off set for 2:00 p.m.
