CLEVELAND, Ga. (November 9, 2024) – On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University men's basketball team hosted LaGrange College for a non-conference match-up, where the Bears defeated the Panthers 82-79. TMU rises to a record of 2-1, while LC falls to a record of 0-1.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first half, LC was first to the basket, with TMU quickly responding with a layup by
Jadon Yeh. TMU quickly took control of the game with good shots by
Myles McCrary and
RJ Bryant, paired with a good three-pointer by
Shawn Walker leading the way. The Bears continued to dominate for the remainder of the first half as a good three-pointer by
Raul Arias-Ortega and layups by
Cooper Rubio increased the scoring gap to 12 points by halftime. In the second half, TMU continued to dominate the Panthers increasing the margin by 20 points, featuring layups by
EJ Smith, Walker, Yeh and McCrary. A last chance effort saw the opposing team attempt to close the gap on the board but was ultimately unsuccessful at disrupting a Bears win. Final score 82-79.
LEADERS
Yeh led the way with 15 points and five assists, going 5-6 at the free throw line. Walker followed with 13 points and six rebounds, while McCrary tallied 12 points and six rebounds. Smith was featured recording 12 points and recording three assists.

TMU will be back in action on the road on Saturday, November 16, as the Bears face Milligan University in an Appalachians Athletic Conference match-up. Tip-off set for 4:00 p.m.
