CLEVELAND, Ga. (November 2, 2024) - The No. 1 seed Truett McConnell University women's soccer team hosted their opening round of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament on Saturday, where the Lady Bears hot second half proved enough as they secured the win over No. 8 seed University of Pikeville with a score of 4-0, advancing to the tournament semi-finals.

TMU worked hard on all sides of the field during the first half as they recorded a total of 11 shots, but the UPike defense ultimately held the Lady Bears at bay as the score remained 0-0 into halftime. The second half saw a change in tide as Isabella Hodson hit the board for the home team after a set up from Brianna Hernandez. The 67th minute continued to see TMU climb the ladder as Eliska Dvorakova found the back of the net from a ball by Hodson. Hodson could not be stopped as she recorded her second goal of the day, assisted by Ashley Johnson, while Johnson sealed the deal with a fourth and final goal for the Lady Bears, assisted by Ruffa Meger.
LEADERS
Hodson led the way for TMU with two goals, one assist and six shots, four on goal. Johnson recorded one goal and one assist, while Dvorakova recorded one goal. Hernandez had one assist and five shots, followed by Meger who had one assist and two shots.
