MARSHALL, Mo. (November 23, 2024) – On Saturday, the No. 20 Truett McConnell women's soccer team traveled to compete in the NAIA National Championships Opening Round against the No. 14 Missouri Valley College, where the Lady Bears gave it their all but ultimately fell to a heart-breaking loss, 3-2. TMU concludes the 2024 season with an overall record of 16-2-3.

The Lady Bears proved to be a tough competitor from the start securing the first goal of the game in the 32
ndminute of first half regulation by
Eliska Dvorakova (1-0). MVC quickly responded with two goals of their own in the 35
th and 36
th minute, eager to make their mark against the Lady Bears (1-2). A corner kick by
Ashley Johnson attempted to set up TMU with the equalizer in the final minutes of first half regulation, but ultimately could not connect.

In the second half, TMU gave it their all scoring the equalizer in the 66th minute by Johnson, assisted by Dvorakova (2-2). Both teams continued to battle, eager to punch their ticket to the final site when a goal by the Vikings found its way into the back of the net. Two last chance shots by Johnson and
Ella Weir attempted to tie up the game once more but ultimately could not connect, falling to a final score of 3-2.

LEADERS
Dvorakova led the way recording one goal, one assist and three shots, all on goal. Johnson followed with one goal and three shots.
Isabella Hodson was featured recording two shots, while Weir had one shot.Â
