Women's Volleyball concludes season at AAC Tournament

KINGSPORT, Tenn. (November 15, 2024) - On Friday, the No. 8 seed Truett McConnell University women's volleyball team traveled to compete against the No. 1 seed Columbia International University for the quarterfinal round of the 2024 WinWon Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament, where the Lady Bears suffered a hard-fought loss against the Rams, 3-0 (25-20, 25-11, 25-15). TMU finishes the 2024 season with an overall record of 14-18, 10-10 AAC.
 
PLAY-BY-PLAY
In set one, T MU was first on the board with an error on the Rams. CIU quickly responded setting the score even as both teams looked to earn the lead. Both teams battled with the Rams recording a five-point rally to push ahead over the Lady Bears. Kills by Sameily Marquez, Claudia Yates and Elizabeth Franklin attempted to bridge the gap between the two teams but ultimately was not enough, falling in set one, 25-20. Set two saw the Rams first up with the Lady Bears responding with a kill by Katie Williams. An early seven-point rally by CIU continued to increase the gap, forcing TMU to work from behind. A final block assist by Marquez and Franklin gave the Lady Bears hope but ultimately could not change the result of the set, 25-11. The final set saw the Lady Bears fight back against the Rams with kills by Williams, Marquez, and Faith Clarkson leading the way. TMU gave it their all working together to change the outcome on the board, but ultimately could not push ahead, falling in set three 25-15.
 
LEADERS
Marquez led the way with six kills and a block assist. Williams followed with five kills and a block assist, while Yates had four kills. Franklin was featured tallying three kills and three block assists, while Emma Boland recorded 12 assists.
