LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (September 7, 2023) On Thursday, the No. 20 Truett McConnell University women's soccer team traveled to compete against the No. 22 Georgia Gwinnett College, where the Lady Bears fell even with the Grizzlies with a final score of 1-1.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
In the first period, TMU wasted no time with a goal by Nadia Ivanchenko in the first seven minutes of regulation. The Grizzlies quickly responded in the 15
th minute with a penalty kick goal (1-1), but the Lady Bears continued to work hard offense. A shot by
Ruffa Meger and two shots by
Chrissy Mitchell added pressure to the Grizzlies defense, but both teams remained even as they headed into the half tied 1-1.
In the second period, TMU once again made the first move with shots by
Erin Ward and
Brianna Hernandez. The final minutes of regulation saw two shots by
Eliska Dvorakova and
Julia Ruiz, ultimately not enough as both teams were unable to find the back of the net and pull ahead (1-1).
LEADERS
Ivanchenko led the way with one goal. Mitchell, Hernandez, Dvorakova and
Ximena Solis Zegarra recorded two shots apiece, while Meger, Ward, Ruiz, Bosch and
Isabella Hodson individually had one shot. Keeper
Emelie Taylor recorded five saves on the day.

The Lady Bears will travel to Grayson, Ky. to take on Kentucky Christian University for their Appalachian Athletic Conference opener. Kickoff set for 12:30 p.m.
