TMU shows out in non-conference win over Lindsey Wilson

CLEVELAND, Ga. (April 5, 2023) – The Truett McConnell University baseball team hosted Lindsey Wilson College for a non-conference midweek match-up, where the Bears recorded 17 runs on 13 hits to take down the Blue Raiders. TMU rises to an overall record of 25-10, while the Blue Raiders fall to an overall record of 16-16.

PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Blue Raiders were first to score, recording two runs on two hits in the top of the first inning (0-2). TMU retaliated with a Matthew Redmond hit by pitch, Tanner Griffith single and Mikal Mascarello walk to load the bases. A single from Jake Edwards and Ethan Roberts quickly gave TMU the lead (3-2). The bottom of the second saw a double from Griffith paired with an Andrew Johnston double to add to the Bears' lead (4-2). The top of the third saw the Blue Raiders propel past TMU, tacking four runs off three hits (4-6). Both teams were evenly matched when a tide-turning two-run blast from Mascarello evened the playing field (6-6). The Bears' offense came alive in the bottom of the fifth, featuring Roberts and Jakob Karvelas hit by pitches followed by an Andrew Fry single to recapture TMU's lead (8-6). A Jordan Kenty triple, Redmond single, Johnston single and another Fry single combined with smart base running and capitalizing on defensive errors continued to raise the Bears' score (14-6). A Kenty double and Redmond sacrifice fly closed out the bottom of the fifth with TMU's final run of the day and secured a 17-6 run rule over the Blue Raiders.
