KINGSPORT, Tenn. (March 30, 2023) – On Thursday, the Truett McConnell University men's volleyball team competed in their final match of the season in the Appalachian Athletic Conference opening round against No. 3 Webber International University. The Bears battled back in set two, but fell in three final matches to the Warriors (13-25, 23-25, 15-25).

The Warriors were first on the board, but a kill from Nathan Hill sparked the Bears' momentum. Kills from Jackson Adams and Kyle Gregory gave TMU their first lead of the game, but the Warriors responded with a three-point rally to recapture the lead. Back-to-back kills from Alex Bosman kept TMU competitive but the Warriors continued to tack on points of their own. Late kills from Bosman were ultimately not enough as TMU fell in set one (13-25). In set two, TMU was first on the board with kills from Adam Shuman and a service ace from Wensky Saintilmond. Both teams were evenly matched when a three-point rally from the Bears secured the lead, followed by another three-point rally that saw a kill from Bosman create a margin for TMU. Kills from Shuman and Hill continued to add the Bears' lead, until a late three-point rally from the Warriors left TMU to fall 23-25. In the final set, the Warriors were first to score but kills from Adams and Bosman quickly stole the lead. A four-point rally from the Warriors recaptured the lead, but a kill from Shuman and Bosman paired with a Saintilmond service ace saw both teams' neck-and-neck. A late six-point rally sealed the Bears' fate as they fell short, 15-25.

Bosman led the way with 12 kills and one block, while Gregory recorded six kills. Shuman contributed five kills and one block, while Saintilmond and Hill tallied two service aces apiece. Adams was seen recording eight digs and Jakob Lee tallied four digs.
