CLEVELAND, Ga. (March 15, 2023) – The Truett McConnell University baseball team hosted Appalachian Athletic Conference rival Reinhardt University for a mid-week match-up, where the Bears were unable to respond with runs of their own, resulting in a 10-2 loss to the Eagles. TMU falls to a record of 17-7, 7-4 AAC, while the Eagles rise to 13-9, 5-3 AAC.
PLAY-BY-PLAY
The Eagles took an early lead in the top of the second, recording four runs on two hits (0-4). TMU responded with a Matthew Redmond hit by pitch and Caleb Williams walk. Caleb Ramsey capitalized on defensive errors to push across the Bears' first run of the game (1-4). Reinhardt continued to tack on runs in the top of the third with a two-run home run (1-6). TMU saw their final run of the day after singles by Dylan Sargent and Matthew Redmond, paired with a Ramsey single to decrease the gap (2-6). Both teams were evenly matched until the Eagles added more runs in the seventh and eighth inning, leaving TMU to fall 2-10.
LEADERS
Redmond led the way offensively, going 1-3 at the plate with one run, while Ethan Roberts was 1-3 at the plate. Mikal Mascarello and Sargent were each individually 1-4 at the plate, while Ramsey was 1-3 at the plate with a single RBI.
