CLEVELAND, Ga. (February 18, 2023) – On Saturday, the Truett McConnell University women's Lacrosse team hosted Erskine College for a non-conference matchup inside the TMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex. The Lady Bears fought hard, but ultimately fell to a final score of 22-8.Â
PLAY-BY-PLAYÂ
In the first quarter, Erskine was able to score six goals, but sophomore Marlo McBrayer quickly responded with four goals of her own, along with a single goal by freshman Shelby Nail (6-5). In the second quarter, eager to increase the scoring deficit, Erskine scored seven more goals, entering the half with a clear advantage (13-5).Â
In the third quarter, Nail found the back of the net once again as the Lady Bears worked to bridge the gap, but Erskine responded with shots to force TMU to work hard from behind (19-6). The Lady Bears were resilient on defense in the fourth quarter, holding Erskine to four goals. TMU did not stay quiet as they added two more goals of their own by McBrayer and Madison Franklin, finishing the game with a final score of 22-8.Â
LEADERSÂ
McBrayer led the way for TMU, scoring five goals, along with six shots, five on goal and two ground balls. Nail followed with two goals, taking four shots, three on goal and seven ground balls. Madison Franklin had one goal, taking six shots, two on goal, with two ground balls. Katie Smith took two shots with one on goal and two ground balls, while Gracie Wilber took one shot and had six ground balls. Madison Wyatt had three ground balls, followed by Goalie Mackenzie Tyler who had seven saves on the day.Â
