CLEVELAND, Ga. (November 2, 2023) – The Truett McConnell University women's basketball team opened home play on Thursday against Toccoa Falls College, where a late spark from the Lady Bears proved not enough as TMU fell to a final score of 67-57.

The Screaming Eagles took an early lead at the start with a six-point run, but the Lady Bears did not hesitate to respond as a shot in the paint by
Alysee Dobbs and
Megan Mares worked to bridge the gap (4-8). TFC maintained a steady advantage for the remainder of the quarter, forcing TMU to work under pressure as they headed into the half. The third quarter saw the Lady Bears strike first with a jump shot from
Mahalah Stewart, but TFC was not shaken as they continued to increase their lead. The fourth quarter proved game changing for the Lady Bears as a seven-point run sparked by two good free throws from
Kacie Williams and a shot in the paint by Dobbs. TMU reduced the gap to seven after an
Alexis Brewster shot in the paint, but TFC could not be stopped as the game resulted in a final score of 57-67.

LEADERS
Brewster led the way with a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds, along with going 6-6 at the free throw line.
Kayleigh Kelley recorded 15 points, while going 6-6 at the free throw line and 3-6 at the three-point arc.
Kacie Williams went 4-4 at the free throw line, followed by
Sydnie Smith who tallied six assists on the night.
